Yummy cupcakes!!
It seems that there are cupcakes in every single cafe and coffee shop up and down the highstreet at the moment. Chocolate cake, carrot cake, coffee cake. Jam filling, chocolate sprinkles, vanilla icing. But I came across these whilst browsing online and I just loved them. Cupcakes on a stick- how creative?! I don’t know where you can buy them, but when I find out, I will be moving...

Google AdWords Competition
This year, me and a group of 4 others decided to enter the Google AdWords Competition. We had to find a company that had never used AdWords before as part of their campaign, and get them to agree to us conducting an AdWords campaign for them. Google would then give us $200 to try run a 3 week campaign successfully.
Before this competiton, I never thought that so much time and work was going to...

Media Fragmentation
Many people often talk about media fragmentation and the damage it is going to have on the advertising industry. But I don’t think it is as big a problem as many people think it is…
It’s stupid to say that fragmentation doesn’t exist; of course it does, but there are still traditional mediums that reach a mass audience. For example, a huge 106 million viewers tuned in to...

The Future of TV Advertising
I was given a lecture today on TV advertising and how it compares to other media forms in today’s advanced society. With the ever increasing popularity of the Internet, clients seem to be throwing money at ways to incorporate social media and other internet technologies in to their campaigns, and TV advertising seems to be getting forgotten about. However, can anything ever really live up to...

School Trip!
Our course went on an old-school style coach trip up to London yesterday to visit Mediacom, the biggest media agency in the world. One thing I found really interesting at Mediacom is their new department called ‘Beyond Advertising’, which specialises in anything extra that can help a brand make impact amongst its audience, such as sponsorship, social media activity, and anything else which isn’t...

Facebook- A Place to Advertise Yourself?
I’ve recently been writing an assignment on social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, and I’ve been finding the reading really interesting (I know, I was shocked too.) It has really got me thinking about why and how we use them.
There are many sceptical scholars who argue that these big social networking platforms are just a place to ‘show off’ and hide behind...

Top Hat Advertising
As part of another assignment, we had to get ourselves in to groups of 5 to form an advertising/communications agency. We decided to call our agency ‘Top Hat’, as we thought this could represent a number of different things; such as tradition, dance and magic, which could help to portray that we’re a flexible company that deliver high quality work. This is our logo below:

Nicely Designed Packaging
Good eveing. I’m currently sat here with a glass of wine and feeling a little bit tipsy, so I apologise in advance if the following makes absolutely no sense whatsoever!
I’ve decided to do a blog post on different packaging, as for me, packaging design is a really important part of a brand. It represents its image and is critical to its success. If...
